SLAP Youth Coaching

Coaching is an art and a science. It’s about seeing potential in someone and being able to teach and push them just the right amount. It’s about knowing an athlete’s weaknesses and strengths and developing that athlete to their potential. We aim to provide an organized culture that is positive and high performing. The key elements of our successful youth team are: positive energy, support, motivation, life-lessons, creativity, and FUN.
There are so many benefits for children to be involved with the sport of swimming and triathlon…have fun, make friends, healthy exercise, no single-sport-specialization, build confidence, and so much more! We like to make it a family affair too…many of our parents are involved in triathlon or swimming, as well as volunteering with the Youth Team.
We offer multiple levels of coaching services based on age, ability and competitive vs. non-competitive. There is a place in SLAP for everyone! Training Calendar

Training sessions will be regularly scheduled and reoccurring. This will allow families to get in a rhythm and provide the athletes with a constant environment for improvement. All of our coaches work with the youth group to provide multiple coaching styles.

Certified Coaches

SLAP coaches are USA Triathlon Certified Youth & Junior Coaches with years of experience working with athletes. We maintain CPR/First Aid and Red Cross Lifeguard certifications. Our professionalism and knowledge sets us apart from the rest!

Camps & Triathlon Races

We will offer multiple opportunities during the year for the youth athletes to train together at camps (day camps and overnight camps when appropriate). The SLAP Coaches will also support our athletes at many of the local races during the season.

Multiple Locations

The SLAP Youth & Junior team is located throughout Central Florida! We host training sessions in Orlando, Celebration, Clermont, St. Cloud, and Melbourne. Click on the calendar to find your closest training sessions.

Swim Practice & Lessons

We offer casual group swim practices (non-competitive) as part of our youth triathlon training program. No long-term commitment required. During COVID, we are also offering 1-on-1 sessions (in 6-week blocks) at the Celebration pool.

High Performance Squad

The SLAP High Performance Squad is for athletes 12+ who have shown excellence in past races and want to make a “full-time” commitment to the sport. The HPS team is by invitation only (contact Head Coach Sara if you think your child qualifies or if you want more information).

Group training sessions are $15 per child, per hour
We are currently offering a COVID-limited and scaled-back-winter calendar of training sessions. The $90 monthly fee will resume in March 2021 when we resume a full calendar of activities in preparation for the 2021 race season.
Every child MUST have a current USA Triathlon Youth Annual Membership before participating in any SLAP training sessions. 
This $10 annual fee provides your child and our team with insurance. This membership is also required for participation in any event or camp during the season.
